From Tea to Tokens: How the Spirit of the Boston Tea Party Lives On in Bitcoin

In 1773, a group of colonists in Boston dressed as Mohawk Indians boarded ships in the harbor and dumped 342 chests of British tea into the water. They weren’t just protesting a tax on tea—they were rejecting the idea of taxation without representation and centralized control by a distant empire. That act of defiance would become one of the sparks that ignited the American Revolution. Fast forward to today: a different kind of rebellion is underway. But this time, it’s not against a monarchy—it’s against a monetary system controlled by central banks, governments, and entrenched financial institutions. And the protest doesn’t take the form of crates tossed into harbors. It’s digital. It’s global. And it’s called Bitcoin. The Boston Tea Party: A Revolt Against Monetary Tyranny At its core, the Boston Tea Party was about sovereignty. The American colonists were being taxed by a government in which they had no representation. Worse, the British East India Company was granted mono...

Bitcoin Is a Protocol: Why Quantum FUD Is Misguided

Michael Saylor once made a deceptively simple yet profound statement:  "Bitcoin is a protocol."  In a world where headlines often scream about the imminent doom of Bitcoin at the hands of quantum computers, this quote is a sobering reminder of Bitcoin’s true nature—not as a fixed asset, but as an adaptable set of rules. Protocols evolve. So will Bitcoin. Understanding the FUD: Quantum Computing as a Boogeyman Every few months, a new “quantum breakthrough” is announced and followed quickly by waves of fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) suggesting Bitcoin will soon be broken. The concern usually revolves around quantum computers cracking the ECDSA (Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm) used in Bitcoin, potentially exposing private keys and enabling the theft of funds. Yes, quantum computing could eventually pose a threat to the cryptographic primitives used today. But here’s what’s often left out of the conversation: those threats are decades away from being feasible, and...

2084: Why Total Government Control From Cradle to Grave Is the Future We Deserve

It’s time we admit it: freedom is overrated. The burden of personal choice, responsibility, and individuality has plagued humanity for too long. From the chaos of deciding which cereal to buy in the morning to the terrifying uncertainty of retirement planning, life is simply too complicated. Fortunately, there is a solution. It’s a radical one, but it’s the only way to free ourselves from the burden of freedom: total state control over every aspect of our lives, from cradle to grave. Think about it—what have our “freedoms” really gotten us? A chaotic world where we’re bombarded with endless choices, distractions, and responsibilities. Every day, we wake up and are forced to make decisions: where to work, what to wear, whom to marry, what opinions to hold. What if, instead of being weighed down by such trivial concerns, a benevolent government made all these choices for us? Imagine the relief of never having to think for yourself again! Let’s start with the basics: birth. Why should par...

Specialization: Society's Superpower

In a world where information is abundant, risks are present, and we have access to more knowledge (good or bad) than ever before, the allure of becoming a jack of all trades, independent, off-grid survivalist is strong. The romantic notion of being self-sufficient and unburdened by modern civilization, resonates with many. However, the reality is far from this idyllic dream. Specialization, a foundational pillar of human progress, is the antithesis of the "jack of all trades" model. It's the silent superpower that has, in large part, been responsible for the rapid advances in society. Why Specialization? 1. Efficiency: Specialization enables individuals or groups to focus their efforts on a narrow set of tasks, which they can master and execute with high efficiency. For example, a doctor specializes in a particular field of medicine, ensuring patients receive expert care. 2. Innovation: With focused effort comes depth of knowledge. This depth often leads to breakthrough...

Bitcoin: A Financial Exploit Against Vulnerable "Fiat"

There are few topics as divisive as Bitcoin.  From its creation in 2009 by the mysterious entity or individual known as Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin has grown from an obscure and theoretical concept to a global phenomenon. At its core, Bitcoin serves as an innovative exploit against centralized fiat currencies, seeking to address the inherent flaws and limitations of the traditional financial systems. To understand Bitcoin's significance, one must first understand what it is attempting to challenge: centralized fiat currencies.  Fiat currencies are government-issued and regulated forms of money. Their value isn't derived from a physical commodity like gold, but from the trust and faith that the public puts in the issuing authority. However, this system is not without its flaws. Centralized control of currency means a few entities hold the power to influence monetary policies,  and in some cases, these decisions can lead to undesirable economic outcomes such as inflation or c...

Value Investing - Finding safety in a dangerous investment environment and building a track record of Alpha.

I've written much about markets and investing.    First off, tech is overvalued and STILL IS!  My thoughts here  are still relevant despite the NASDAQ 100 being down ~35%. Second off, I built an algorithm for finding good and relatively "safer" investments here and here .  I've been using this algorithm to find quality investments with a margin of safety for a few years.   My process, admittedly, is not 100% automated, nor should it be.  My algorithm presents a valuation-based ranking of 3000 of the world's equities in the Russell 3000.  Then I use that ranking to feed manual analysis to pick what might be mispriced and what I am personally interested in investing in.   So ok,  the point of this blog post is to share a few stocks with which I am investing a significant amount of my own capital into with the hope that these picks outperform the broader market.  I will provide the pick and a small amount of information about my ratio...
